THE NURSE ROLE AS A PROTAGONIST IN THE PREVENTION SCENARIO OF CLANDESTINE ABORTION

Abstract

This article aims to emphasize the Nurse's responsibility as a protagonist in the scenario of prevention of clandestine abortion. This study was based on an integrative review with research at the Virtual Health Libraries (VHL) and data base analysis of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Health Technicians International Education Network (RETS). Articles were selected in the Portuguese language, and the research was conducted from July to November 2018, following the descriptors: Abortion, Induced; Women's Health; Public Health, through fluctuating reading of 51 works, which resulted in the selection of 24 articles for the construction of the developed study. The results of the research indicate that the characteristics of women who are willing to commit unsafe abortion are related to biopsychosocial factors, which are, characteristics that help the professional to detect risks and vulnerabilities, requiring several preventive approaches to minimize the incidence of the cases. The primary focus is on a tool, programs that help prevent unwanted pregnancies such as family planning, sexual and reproductive education that may favor the reduction of the act. Some obstacles still exist in the prevention trajetory of the clandestine abortion as unprepared professionals, the administrative failure to create able flowcharts to redirect the woman who did the procedure, and the legislative failures. Therefore, it is expected that these reflections can contribute to discussions about the theme and highlight the importance of the professional to provide technical support that is ethical, qualified, devoid of preconceptions and judgments, so woman can feel welcome and confident in her choices.
